List of Free Access to Internet Accessibility from University of Maine System

As we all need to stay home to stop the spread of Covid-19, please be aware of the transitions that learners are being asked to make.  Finding internet access can often be a barrier for many adult learners and their families.  The University of Maine System has published this great list of free access to Internet accessibility as a resource.

 

Internet.  Home internet access from a commercial provider (e.g. Spectrum, Consolidated (DSL) or RedZone Wireless, etc.) or mobile hotspot access through your wireless provider/carrier (e.g. Verizon, US Cellular, etc.).

  • **NEW** Several U.S. cellular carriers have pledged to provide customers with unlimited data and free mobile hotspot service as part of the ‘Keep Americans Connected’ pledge for the next 60 days. You may read more about the announcements from AT&TSprint and T-Mobile.


  • **NEW** A listing of Public Libraries in Maine is also available.  Please verify availability and schedule of hours before visiting.



  • **NEW** Free Public WiFi is also available from a number of national chains, including:
    • Starbucks
    • McDonalds
    • Panera Bread
    • Dunkin Donuts
    • NOTE: Please use caution when utilizing public WiFi to access the internet.  Be sure to only use sites that begin with “https://” when entering confidential information, such as username/password
